Who doesn’t like pizza? The cheesy taste it offers along with a perfect mix of sauce and other toppings cannot be beat. Every Friday at our house is pizza night. My favorite pizza place is either Ledo’s, or Manhattan Pizzeria. My favorite type of pizza is cheese, however, buffalo wing pizza is just awesome! A lot of people don’t like to eat the crust, and me and my dad are the only ones in our family who eats the crust. The rest just toss it. What a waste of crust!

All this talk of pizza is making me hungry….

Well, not really.

On a cold winter day in 7th grade, while sitting around at my friend’s house, me and three of my friends, Camden, Jerry, and Guillermo decided to form a band. A an awesome rock n’ roll band. While choosing instruments, I had to go to the bathroom, and my friends left me with the bass guitar. That was fine by me, because singing was never my thing, I didn’t like the drums, and I never liked being the center of attention. After we all got our instruments, we started to practice regularly. We were tired of playing other musicians’ songs, so we made our own.

Our first song was called, “Believer In Luke” and song citing all the odd things that our friend Luke does. It was a joke song, and I don’t think that any of us took it seriously. However, we signed up for the 7th grade end of the year talent show, and we needed something to do. So we thought it would be good to do Believer in Luke. So we did, and got first place. The rewards weren’t what was important, but the sense of accomplishment that accompanied it. We continued to practice, creating other songs, but none of them were as good to us as Believer in Luke was.

It was our last year at school, and we wanted to go out with a bang. Our band repeatedly practiced, and we felt pretty good about ourselves. So we got our singer’s mom to sponsor us in the school talent show. We waited and waited for the day to finally come, and it did. We were pretty excited for the day to come, and we had worked really hard, so we weren’t going well. Minutes before the talent show, we learn that the sound system wouldn’t work with the guitar and bass. We didn’t have very big amps, so we had to hope for the best. When our moment arrived, we were on fire! We were probably the best act in the show, and our audience wasn’t dissapointed. This highlights the success of our band, the best band in the world!

To see the show, go to youtube.com and type in “Believer in Luke”

Ka thump, ka thump, ka thump. These are the sounds of sleds racing down thin sheets of ice, on a cold snow day. Ka-bush! This is the sound of one of those sleds hitting a nearby tree. A winner has been declared. This is an example of an epic sled race we had last winter. Sled racing is one of the many things that make a snow day so special. “Snow Day”. Two words every child lives for. Not only is it a day off from school, but a day in which memories are made.

Nothing can really beat getting out of bed in the morning, looking out your window, and seeing a white, glistening field of snow. The day starts off with some warm hot chocolate with marshmallows.  After breakfast, we usually put on a seemingly endless supply of snow clothes. When we finish putting on all of our clothes, we head outside into a sea of white fluffy snow.  We usually play with our neighbor Calaway and his brother Cameron. If the snow is good for making snowballs, we usually have an epic battle on our swingset.  These are usually short battles, but one time we had a battle that lasted an hour. The battle starts like a real war, snow flying left and right, kids yelling, the swingset shaking up and down, everyone having a great time.  If we get a lot of snow, with a layer of ice, we sled down the large hill on the side of my house. My past experience with sledding isn’t good, so I stick to hills without any large jumps.

Around noon, we go in and take a break. After a quick lunch and some video games, we’re back outside. I help shovel the driveway, and we use the snow from there and the street to build a big fort in our front yard. After we finish building the fort, we destroy it. We spend the rest of the time until it gets dark racing each other on sleds down our hill. We have dinner and hope we get another day off tomorrow.
